Unique training to reveal effective risk communication secrets

Communicating effectively with the public about risk is one of the biggest challenges faced by a spokesperson. How do you ensure that your message gets through so that people receive and understand the information they need?

Research commissioned by Insignia Communications into the way that spokespeople communicated about the 2009 swine flu outbreak identified the key ingredients of a successful risk communicator. These insights were used to create a training experience specifically designed to provide the skills and techniques to communicate effectively about risk.

The course provides evidence-based training on:

  • the creation and delivery of effective messages about risk
  • the type of language to use to most effectively connect with the public
  • body language to engage the audience
  • employing your own personal style for maximum impact
  • choosing your appearance to deliver credibility
  • the importance of the right environment to support your message

Media training for risk communicators is a new and unique course based on proprietary research, and provides all the ingredients to help spokespeople succeed. Training includes analysis and learnings from real media interviews and realistic interview practice based on tailored risk scenarios. It is suitable for anyone likely to communicate about risks including disease communication, product safety, environmental health concerns, accidents, health and safety, natural disasters, public transport and online security.
